How To Work In A Team Effectively?

How to work in a team effectively?

As the years go by, the number of companies that encourage their employees to work as a team increases. In fact, there are different tasks and projects which, if not distributed among several people, can hardly see the light of day.

The reality is that this teamwork can be very difficult. Tensions and conflicts may arise between colleagues or the expected result may not be achieved. How can we ensure that tasks are carried out efficiently between several people?

When do you succeed in working as a team effectively?

In companies,  work teams are created with a very concrete goal: to fulfill a series of objectives and plans. Therefore, it seems logical to think that they are effective when they achieve those purposes for which they were created, does not it? This is one of the fundamental aspects to take into account to see their effectiveness, but it is not the only one.

In fact,  one must also consider whether a group identity takes place by working as a team. Why is this so important? Because if we reach it, it can last over time. It will therefore be viable and members will want to repeat this collaborative experience.

Finally,  we must take into account the individuals who form the group. Giving importance to their expectations and trying to meet their personal needs also influences whether or not effective teamwork. In other words, we must strengthen their well-being. But how do you get there?

Tasks for effective teamwork

We talked about achieving goals to consider teamwork to be done effectively. It should be taken into account that not all tasks require the cooperation of employees to be successful. It is therefore important to know what will be best done individually and what will be best done collectively.

If we want the group to generate good results, we must give it tasks appropriate to teamwork. That is, interdependent, discretionary and / or uncertain tasks. In addition, it must be borne in mind that the knowledge of each member must be managed in an adequate manner.

In addition,  a team is more effective when its members have collaborated for a long time. In other words, when the working group is mature. It is therefore important to allow a period of adaptation to achieve optimal achievement of the objectives.

Psychosocial processes that influence effective teamwork

Teams are entities with their own psychosocial processes that influence the ability to work with other people as well as the desired efficiency. Thus,  the most fundamental aspects must be emphasized: cohesion and cooperation.

By managing to work as a team in a cooperative and organized manner, we will develop efficiency. For this,  we must think of a fundamental figure: the leader of the group. In companies, this is normally the team leader. It is essential that he is accessible, that he is able to communicate effectively and that he clearly assigns to each one the task incumbent on him.

In this way,  it is easier for different members of the group to gain more than losses from teamwork. As with most things in life, becoming effective in this area requires adding up all the little parts that influence the process… So let’s get started now!
