Coincidences Show You Are On The Right Track

Coincidences show you're on the right track

You know when you are on the right track. Coincidences begin to draw one after another on the horizon, your heart fills with satisfaction and a cautious enthusiasm that lets you understand that any effort brings definite results. Ultimately, when the mind is firmly focused on what it wants, things do not happen by chance but by determination.

We have all, at some point, felt such a sensation. The one that gives us the impression, without knowing how, that  small hazardous events but having a certain relationship between them begin to follow one another. Events that seem to fit our plan.

Mathematicians Persi Diaconis and Frederick Mosteller of the University of Berkeley explained in  a 1989 study that we should not pay too much attention to coincidences. These are nothing more than weird events with low reliability that rarely help us predict anything.

Even so,  from the late 1980s the perspective on coincidences changed dramatically. Thus, Bernard Beitman, psychiatrist at the University of Virginia, wrote a very interesting book entitled  Connecting with Coincidence  in which he explains to us that these random events sometimes trace our own destinies.

Edmund Halley, an 18th century English astronomer, for example, realized that the recordings that other astronomers had made when comets appeared in Earth’s orbit and which they had classified as “mere coincidences” were not were not at all.

Halley ventured to say that these patterns responded to a lone comet that appeared every 75 years, and he was right. He himself saw it pass, as his calculations had predicted, on Christmas Eve 1758.

Sometimes  the chain of coincidences gives us a trail of something,  something that we can only determine by showing openness, confidence and determination.

Determination, movement and coincidences

When you are on your way, you have a clear goal. A goal which, little by little, makes you gain harmony. Studying for a diploma, looking for resources for a project, finding stability in an emotional relationship, overcoming a personal problem… All of this requires a series of very precise movements which go in the same direction.

At different points in our life cycle, we are all obligated to make an effort to shape this plan which will bring us happiness and stability. It is part of our sense of self-realization and our personal growth. And one aspect that we should not and cannot rule out in this process is the aspect of coincidences.

Josh Tenenbaum, scientist and cognitive psychologist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), tells us that while sometimes these events lack logic and seem like random actions,  coincidences are as revealing as they are essential in our lives.

Coincidences, the Spirit and our Personal Growth

Coincidences, according to Dr. Tenenbaum, drive and promote many inferences in our minds. In fact, our brain is programmed to detect any abnormal and haphazard stimulus and try to make associations to understand it and promote our learning.

  • David Spiegelhalter, a statistician at the University of Cambridge, has been studying the subject of coincidences for years. The results of his work are now in the Atlantic public domain. Thus, and according to this professor,  coincidences can only be understood with adequate statistical analysis.
  • It is through this method that we realize one aspect:  the strongest coincidences are linked to our social relations. An example of this point is the fact of coinciding in several places with the person who will become our spouse. Another is knowing someone who, by chance, suggests new projects to us that we end up following (just when we need a change). One last is to perceive how we move forward in our personal projects thanks to this connection with people who share our passions.

On the other hand, an interesting aspect of Professor Spiegelhalter’s work is that when we only notice  a weak correlation, it means that the person wants something and is waiting for this event to happen without getting involved in this project. In other words, it is only when we take action and promote new situations that coincidences are created. And it is from there that we can turn them in our favor.

the energy of coincidences

When you are on the right path, you know it …

As we have been able to deduce,  the coincidences are the result of chance … but also of this impulse that we generate ourselves  with our personal and psychological disposition. All of this prompts us to understand certain aspects that are worth investigating.

  • When you are on the right track, you see those events that you favored intermingle with those that occur with relative but determining chance. An example of this is the work of scientists and researchers. In their daily task of analysis and experience, they often have to deal with hazardous facts which allow them to arrive at a formidable discovery.
  • You are also on the right track when your mind is open to all that is happening around you. Only a waking gaze and a brain full of curiosity that seeks to learn and find stimuli in its favor manage to see the true coincidences. Those which sometimes arrive one after the other, until leading us where we want it.
  • Another aspect to consider is that sometimes negative coincidences do occur. Falling ill on the day of our exams, having a technical problem during the presentation of our project, etc. Even if these events may seem hazardous to us, we must remember that probabilities and statistics tell us that they also fall within the range of the possible and the “normal”.
  • A coincidence can be positive, negative or neutral. What matters, in the end, is how we decide to handle this event. The way we do it, the response, the mental point of view and the behavior we apply behind this fact will really determine our fate.

To conclude, Albert Einstein said that life itself is a wonderful coincidence. Knowing how to live it in the best possible way requires having a firm will and know-how that allows us to be receptive through a positive and hopeful mental point of view. So let’s apply this personal vision. Let us not ignore and do not turn our backs on all these possibilities that gravitate around us every day.
